Prunes and Ketchup... YUM!

We had a dinner tonight which included ketchup, a favorite of Gabe's. When he was all done eating he still had ketchup, though. So, he used a prune to scoop it up with! Here is one of a series of fun photos of Gabe eating ketchup from a prune. Delish!

New Friend

Check it out! Memphis finally got their mountain gorilla!!! Isn't he gorgeous?! I foresee him becoming one of Gabe's faves at the zoo; right up there with the polar bears, pandas, elephants, and lions.

The Flight of Time

When I was a little kid, time seemed to stand still. I would be excited about something, and it would take FOREVER for it to arrive: holidays, birthdays, horse shows. Time seemed to travel so s-l-o-w-l-y. Mu mom would tell me that, as you get older, time passes more quickly. I wondered how that could be. Now I know. I have SO MUCH to do before I take a group of students (and a few adults) to Paris this summer. I keep thinking that I have all kinds of time. I don't! I have a meeting to schedule, and I don't know when I can do it! How is it that 24 hours can fly by so fast? Don't hours last 60 minutes? And minutes, 60 seconds? And don't 24 hours equal one day? It all sounds so much like the same amount of time that I had for an hour, a day, a week, a month... a year... as when I was a child. Yet, somehow, it moves along in an almost blinding pace!
Well, I guess my mom was right... again... time passes more quickly the older we get. I wonder, if I am 35 right now, how much more quickly will the days pass when I am 70?! Geez! I don't want to think about it!

Snow and flip flops

My sister-in-law is getting a taste of what snow-folks are like as soon as snow melts. She wrote in her blog of crazy people in Flagstaff wearing shorts and flip flops already. Megan... that is what happens once the temps rise above freezing in the more wintery climates! I recall wearing tee-shirts, shorts, and sandals once the temp was about 50 in Bemidji, and it felt great! I imagine it is a strange thing to observe your first winter in a colder climate, but, next year you will be the one donning summer garb as soon as the snow melts.
As for us, our snow is but a soggy yard and a misshapen blob of what was once a snowman. Just a wet memory. I am sad. I love the snow! But, it is really beautiful outside today (though our yard is soaked and "puddly" and Gabe has one pair of shoes that fit, so he is not allowed out in it). I am so mean!

Push, push, push

This is a really cute video that we took yesterday of Gabe. The one below this is just afterwards in the house.

Smile... sort of.

Snow Day!!!

We were released from school (work) early today for a winter storm warning. It is now about 6 pm and we have a good 4-5 inches of great snow! I LOVE IT! Gabe and I went outside and made a huge snowball. It was going to be a snowman, but Gabe just wanted to keep pushing the snowball, rolling it along all over our front lawn. He kinda reminded me of a dung beetle with this big snowball and little Gabe rolling it along, saying, "Push! Push!" all the while. Once we were good and cold, our cheeks rosy and our pants all wet, we reluctantly went inside and have been inside ever since. It is now really windy, and the snow appears to be more of a sleet/snow mix. Not much fun for old farts like me!

Isn't he gorgeous?!!
Well, I think he is, and if anyone wants to argue about it... have I ever told you that my Papa was a professional boxer? Well, let's just say that it runs in the family!
LOL

Mall Outing

Mike and I took Gabe to the mall today where he rode the carousel. He loved it! I just wanted to post a cute picture (or two) so that you can all appreciate just how cute our son is!! :)
